It is great to see a shift in the Australian Building Codes in recognition of Green Star as a pathway for demonstrating compliance in the form of Green Star – Design and As Built v1.3. It has been recognised by the Australia Building Code Board that Green Star rated buildings demonstrate better performance is possible and commercially viable.

A great example can be seen in Melbourne at the Monash University Car Park where a Xypex Admix Solution was specified by the design engineers to provide durability and protection to the Green Star ‘5-star As-Built’ rating roof deck.

Due to the roof deck having a turf overlay finish, combined with the presence of motor vehicles it was imperative to provide a permanent watertight solution whilst addressing the issue of Carbonation attack. The project required 4,000 cubic meters of Xypex dosed concrete poured over a 2 week period.
